ULAA Board Crisis Resolved By Eminent Persons Council At Meeting In Philly

E

minent persons council of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) on Saturday mediated and resolved the impasse in the ULAA Board of Directors. Read Resolution.

A meeting of the FULL BOARD OF DIRECTORS of ULAA will be held in Detroit, Michigan on May 3, 2008. The group of “complaining Board Members”, previously dubbed, as the G-17 will also cease to exist and become an integral part of the full Board.

 

These are among several resolutions reached in Philadelphia and resulting from a daylong mediation of the ULAA Eminent Persons council on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at ACANA edifice. All previously fragmentally scheduled ‘board’ meetings have accordingly been cancelled.

The Council, welcomed by the Board Executive Committee, the Administration and the erstwhile G-17, encouraged and facilitated the Philadelphia based ACANA meeting, which puffed out a friendly smoke of unity from the April 12th Peace Pipe.

 

Board Chairman James larsah, ULAA President Emmanuel Weetee and the spokesman for the G-17 (Hon. Michael Dortu), were thankful to the Eminent Persons, and appreciative of the cordial atmosphere that permeated discussions in Philadelphia. It became a scene of jubilation, embrace and expressions of kind sentiments and assurances.

 

Earlier, Presidenjt Shiwoh Kamara of the Liberia Association of Pennsylvania, LAP, welcomed the Eminent Persons and all concerned parties to Philadelphia. President Kamara said although the ULAA PA Chapter was not given a full-fledged participatory role in the planning and hosting of these deliberations, he was happy that people of reasoning could consider today’s endeavor as a priority. Mr. Kamara said he was proud of the historical role LAP has and continued to play in the Affairs of ULAA.  

 

The Eminent Persons, currently under the Acting Chairmanship of Former ULAA Former President, Mydea Reeves-Karpeh, comprises former Board Chairmen and Presidents of the Union.

 

In her response of compliments to the Council, Acting EPC Chairlady, Mydea Reeves- Karpeh, said the EPC was equally thankful to all parties at the meeting. She said the EPC, as former leaders of the Union, would continue to strive for the it’s relevance especially in troubling situations with which the Union may be faced from time to time. She expressed delight over the willingness of the concerned parties resolve on moving the Union forward as testified by the below resolution.
